Novak Djokovic was forced to make the tough decision to cancel his training session ahead of his semi-final against world number one Jannik Sinner.
Djokovic withdrew from his scheduled training session this afternoon following a groin injury sustained during his quarter-final victory at Wimbledon. The Serbian tennis star was due to practise at 3pm at Aorangi Park but failed to appear, though he was spotted at the All England Club.
The seven-time Wimbledon champion experienced groin tightening whilst defeating Flavio Cobolli to secure his place in the semi-finals. The injury occurred late in the match and has raised concerns about his fitness ahead of his clash with world number one Jannik Sinner.
The 38-year-old, who reached last year's Wimbledon final after knee surgery following the French Open, now faces uncertainty over his physical condition.
Novak Djokovic suffered a nasty fall during the quarter-final on match point
ReutersDjokovic explained the circumstances surrounding the slip in his native language.
"It all happened very quickly... I slipped and I noticed it," he said. "Even so, I managed to overcome the next two points, which is fantastic."
The incident happened on Djokovic's second match point against Cobolli. The 24-time Grand Slam winner slipped on the court and immediately felt his right groin before getting up.

Despite the setback, Djokovic demonstrated his championship mentality by winning the next two points to close out the match and book his semi-final spot.
The fall came after the Serbian had already been experiencing discomfort in the area. Speaking in Serbian during his post-match press conference, Djokovic revealed: "The muscle had been bothering me in the fourth set, it was tightening, and then bad luck struck on match point."

Novak Djokovic took a few moments to recover after the slip
PAThe timing of the injury has sparked concerns about his readiness for the semi-final showdown.
The Serbian acknowledged this was his first slip of the tournament. "It's not the first or last time I've slipped, but it is the first time this year, which is surprising because I'm a player who likes to slide on grass," he noted.
He attributed the conditions to the incident, stating: "In the afternoon, there's more humidity in the air, it becomes more slippery, and the chances of something happening increase."
Regarding his fitness assessment, Djokovic said: "In the next 24 or 48 hours, we'll see the severity of the problem and act accordingly."
The injury concerns extend beyond Djokovic, as his semi-final opponent Jannik Sinner has also been managing physical issues. The world number one cancelled his scheduled training session on Tuesday after falling on his right elbow during his fourth-round victory.
