The 36-year-old is through to the fourth round in Melbourne

Novak Djokovic has admitted his relationship with his backroom team can sometimes be 'unhealthy'.

The world No 1 has progressed through to the fourth round of the Australian Open with a straight-sets win over Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Djokovic was below par in his first two outings of the tournament against Dino Prizmic and Alexei Popyrin.

He dropped a set in both of those matches but was back to somewhere near his best at Rod Laver Arena on Friday.

He won the first two sets 6-3 in his 100th career game at the Australian Open.

Etcheverry, who knocked out Andy Murray in the first round, was not prepared to give in despite being on the brink of an exit.

The Argentine held his serve throughout the third set but was barely able to lay a glove on Djokovic's serve.

The set went to a tie-break, which Djokovic cruised through 7-2 to set up a match against either Adrian Mannarino or Ben Shelton in the fourth round.

Djokovic was often in conversation with his team during the match, with coach Goran Ivanisevic among those to be watching from the stands.

He was asked about the 'healthy tensions' he has with his staff in his post-match interview.

But he admitted that is not always the case.

Djokovic jokingly replied: "Whatever I say will be used against me.

"I'm not so sure if it's a healthy tension, I guess they will probably tell you differently.

"At times it's healthy, at times it's unhealthy, but they are the people who are with me 24/7 obviously.

"We go through some good times, some bad times but it's all part of the journey.

"It's all part of the challenges and obstacles that we have to overcome every day.

"I'm my myself on the court but off the court, it's a team effort and coaching is allowed obviously, from last year, so it's good to have a chit chat when I'm close to them.

"But many times you don't even want to understand what we tell each other. But it's all fun when we're winning."

"In the tie-breaker, I guess I just found the right shots, right serves and closed up in straights."
