Djokovic's dominant display showcased the form that has brought him seven Wimbledon titles, as he swept aside his compatriot in straight sets.
The match saw Djokovic at his imperious best, particularly in the second set where he conceded no games.
Despite the comprehensive scoreline, the closing stages brought unexpected drama.

Djokovic faced some resistance whilst serving for the match, double-faulting twice and showing irritation at crowd interruptions.
He eventually sealed victory with his first match point, finishing with a backhand down the line that proved too powerful for Kecmanovic to handle.
Following his victory, Djokovic reflected on the challenge of facing a friend and Davis Cup teammate.
"It's never easy playing a friend and compatriot," he said. "More than rivals and competitors, we're friends and teammates. I wish him all the very best."

The Serbian acknowledged the unusual situation of competing against someone coached by their national team captain, adding: "It was the first time of my life playing in a match with him in the opposite box, hopefully it never happens again."
When asked if he would be treating Kecmanovic to dinner following their match, Djokovic responded warmly: "Whatever he wants!"
After securing his 100th Wimbledon win, Djokovic expressed gratitude on reaching the milestone: "That sounds very nice. I am very grateful and privileged to be in this position."

Djokovic will next face Australia's Alex de Minaur in the fourth round, with observers noting the challenge ahead for the Australian after witnessing the Serbian's exceptional form.
The champion also revealed a touching celebration tradition with his daughter, performing a dance called "Pump it up" after his victories.
He explained: "It is something my daughter and I do together, she is the master.
"It is a little tradition and hopefully I can do it again."
The touching moment showed the importance of the Serb's family in pushing him towards his record-breaking 25th Grand Slam.
