Nick Kyrgios has confessed to secretly racking up thousands of pounds in room service charges on Rafael Nadal's hotel bill following his defeat at the 2017 China Open final.
The Australian tennis player revealed the prank during an appearance on talkSPORT, admitting he forged Nadal's signature to authorise the expenses.
The incident occurred after Kyrgios suffered a comprehensive 6-2 6-1 loss to the Spanish champion in Beijing. Rather than accepting defeat gracefully, the controversial player opted for an unconventional form of revenge.
Kyrgios disclosed that he charged restaurant bills to Nadal's room whilst drinking with friends later that evening, with the unsuspecting waitress accepting the forged signature without question.

"He beat me in the final of Beijing, and he destroyed me," Kyrgios said.
"I was having a really good week, finals of Beijing, pretty big tournament. Then I get destroyed by Nadal."
The Australian explained that after consuming "a couple of wines" and "having a couple of drinks with my boys," he decided to exact his revenge.

He revealed that he charged his hotel restaurant bill to Nadal's room by simply signing the Spanish player's name.
"The waitress had no idea," Kyrgios admitted, describing how he successfully duped hotel staff into accepting the fraudulent signature without any verification of the room number or guest identity.
Kyrgios showed no remorse for his actions when recounting the story.

"I was like, 'You know what? This guy just destroyed me, probably earned over $1million (£738,000) that week,'" he said.
"I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to put all of my room service...' It was actually in a hotel restaurant, I just put it on Nadal's room and I just signed it as Nadal."
The Australian concluded with a mock apology: "To this day, I'm sorry Rafa if you got this outstanding couple grand bill from me.

The prank is unlikely to have caused significant financial distress to Nadal, who has accumulated substantial wealth throughout his tennis career.
The Spanish player reportedly earned more than £99 million in career prize money alone.

Nadal retired with a 6-3 head-to-head record against Kyrgios, demonstrating his dominance in their encounters.
The 2017 China Open final proved to be another example of this superiority, with Nadal's comprehensive victory prompting Kyrgios's unconventional retaliation.
