John McEnroe departed Australia in characteristically explosive fashion, directing a profane outburst at a teenage fan who had persistently sought his attention at Melbourne Airport.
The 66-year-old American, who captured seven Grand Slam titles during his illustrious playing career, was filmed telling the young Australian to "go f*** yourself" following a tense encounter outside the terminal.
McEnroe had been working as a commentator during the Australian Open and was preparing to fly home when the incident unfolded.
The confrontation marks yet another volatile episode for the tennis icon, whose fiery temperament became as legendary as his on-court brilliance during his competitive years.
Footage captured McEnroe stepping out of a vehicle at the airport, carrying his bags with a guitar slung across his back, when the teenager approached hoping to meet his sporting hero.
The former world No 1 initially declined politely, telling the boy "not right now mate" whilst appearing hurried.
Undeterred, the youngster pressed on, requesting a photograph and declaring that McEnroe was among his "heroes."

The persistent fan even volunteered to assist with the tennis star's luggage in an attempt to win him over.
McEnroe's response grew firmer as he made his way towards the terminal entrance, stating: "I'm going to need you to stay away from me, OK?"
Despite the rebuff, the teenager trailed McEnroe into the terminal building, prompting his staff to intervene.

The young fan remained undeterred, attempting to capture a selfie regardless of whether McEnroe consented.

McEnroe's patience finally snapped entirely. "Will you stop? Stop! Jesus. I mean, are you kidding me?" he shouted, echoing the infamous phrase from his explosive 1981 Wimbledon outburst.
The visibly frustrated tennis legend then delivered his parting words to the young Australian.
