The Italian is on top of the world following his triumph on Sunday

Jannik Sinner has revealed he disagrees with a message from Nike following his Wimbledon final win over Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

The world No 1 won 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 on Centre Court to become the first male player from his country to secure the prestigious prize.

After his win, which came weeks after he'd suffered heartbreak in the final of the French Open, Nike released an advert titled 'Winning heals everything."

This was in reference to Sinner's agonising loss to Alcaraz at Roland Garros, where he squandered match point after going two sets up.

Sinner, however, has now revealed that he disagrees with that.

"Not necessarily winning heals," said the 23-year-old, who now has four majors to his name.

"I believe that being happy on and off the court heals. Of course, if you win, it seems everything is a little bit easier. But at the same time, [so does] having a smile on your face.

"Because the journey is long, now I'm 23, hopefully I can play 10 or 15 more years if I'm healthy, and thank God I am healthy at the moment, so of course you aim to do that.

"Just keep going and keep having a smile on your face. But of course, success is the cherry on top of the cake."

Sinner cut a sad figure after losing to Alcaraz in Paris last month.

Yet he didn't let that defeat get to him on Sunday, with the world No 1 utterly imperious as he secured the biggest triumph of his career.

When asked how he bounced back from that nightmare, Sinner said: "I tried to accept it.

"Of course, it takes time, but I tried to keep going and tried to keep believing.

"I think that's the most important thing, and to do that, you need to have great people around you.

"People who really love you the way you are. This, fortunately, I have.

"I have a great team, amazing parents, and family, and so I'm the happiest to see them from the court on the outside.

Alcaraz, meanwhile, admitted he was disappointed after being forced to settle for runner-up.

"It's difficult to lose. It always is, even if it's in the final," admitted the world No 2.

"I have to congratulate Jannik once again. It was an unbelievable two weeks for you in London.
