Gael Monfils crashed out of his home Grand Slam tournament on Thursday night in a thrilling four-set defeat to Britain's Jack Draper.
The former world No. 6 suffered a devastating 6-3 4-6 6-3 7-5 loss on Court Philippe-Chatrier, with the 15,000-strong crowd firmly behind the French favourite.
Monfils appeared destined to force a deciding set when he led 5-2 in the fourth.
However, Draper staged a remarkable comeback, winning the final five games in a row to seal victory and break French hearts in the process.

The defeat ended Monfils' hopes of progressing further in the tournament.
The French player's exit from Roland Garros initially freed him up to watch his beloved Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final against Inter Milan on Saturday night in Munich.
However, Monfils' travel plans have been complicated by a request from his wife, world No. 14 Elina Svitolina.

The Ukrainian tennis star, who remains alive in the tournament with her third-round match scheduled for late Friday afternoon, is keen to have her husband stay in Paris.
Svitolina wants Monfils to support her matches and spend time with their daughter rather than jet off to Germany for the football.
Monfils revealed the domestic pressures influencing his decision, explaining: "I have a big day. First of all, my daughter has a trampoline, which my wife wants me to stay."

The 38-year-old world No 42 did not explicitly confirm or deny his chances of travelling to Munich for Saturday's match.
The former semi-finalist at Roland Garros faces competing priorities between supporting his wife's continued tournament run and attending what would be a significant Champions League final for his beloved PSG.
Monfils hinted at his likely decision when asked about his Saturday plans, stating: "And Munich, yes, I know that on Saturday whatever happens, I know where I will be."

He added: "There are a number of places, because I can say that my wife wanted me to stay, so if she wins, I think I know where I will be."
The comments suggest that as long as Svitolina remains in the tournament, Monfils will be watching PSG's Champions League clash on television rather than attending in person.
Svitolina, 30, faces American and world no 83 Bernarda Pera on Friday afternoon in the third round.
The two-time Wimbledon is looking to beat her personal best of a quarter final appearance at the Roland Garros.
Monfils, however, may have conflicting feelings on whether he would like his wife to progress.
