Emma Raducanu has crashed out of the French Open in the first round

Emma Raducanu has accumulated approximately £14 million through tournament winnings and commercial partnerships, despite struggling to recapture her form since claiming the US Open title five years ago as an 18-year-old.

The British number one suffered another setback on Sunday when Argentina's Solana Sierra defeated her in a one-sided opening-round match at Roland Garros.

Since her remarkable Grand Slam breakthrough in 2021, Raducanu has endured a persistent decline, cycling through multiple coaching arrangements without securing another title at any level.

A sports industry source told The Sun: "Emma's career on the court is not going the way she hoped, but off it she's smashing it."

Raducanu's 2026 campaign has been plagued by setbacks from the outset, with a foot problem disrupting her pre-season preparations before she exited the Australian Open at the second-round stage.

The 23-year-old managed to reach the Transylvania Open final, only to fall to Sorana Cirstea in straight sets.

A viral illness then forced her to withdraw from events in Miami, Madrid and Rome, leaving her short of competitive matches heading into the clay-court season.

Her return at Strasbourg ended in an opening-round defeat, meaning she arrived at the French Open lacking both match practice and rhythm.

Despite her on-court difficulties, Raducanu remains among tennis's most commercially valuable athletes.

Company accounts for Harbour 6, her business entity, reveal assets totalling £13.4 million in cash, while tax records for the year ending May 2025 indicate earnings of £3 million, with £1.1 million derived from playing.

In February, she secured an eight-year clothing sponsorship with Uniqlo, replacing her previous Nike arrangement, reportedly worth £2.6 million per year — amounting to more than £20 million across the contract's duration.

Her commercial portfolio extends to deals with British Airways, Porsche, Evian, Dior, Tiffany's and Vodafone.

Her French Open exit saw Raducanu slip two places in the WTA rankings to world number 39, placing her outside the top 32 threshold required for seeding at Grand Slam tournaments.

This means she is unlikely to receive a seeding at Wimbledon next month, exposing her to the possibility of facing elite opponents from the earliest rounds.

Seedings exist to prevent leading players from meeting one another in the opening stages of competitions, meaning an unseeded Raducanu could draw a top-ranked rival immediately.

The £152,000 she earned from reaching Wimbledon's third round last year was not included in her company's most recent accounts.
