The Briton will be hoping to win the second Grand Slam title of her career this summer

Emma Raducanu has admitted she doesn't expect to win Wimbledon this summer, with the 22-year-old 'dealing with certain things' as the competition creeps closer.

The Briton is yet to win a singles title since her remarkable US Open victory back in 2021.

After beating Leylah Fernandez on that occasion, many expected Raducanu to dominate for years to come.

That hasn't happened, however, with the tennis star blowing hot and cold amid injury issues behind the scenes.

Now, speaking as Wimbledon 2025 prepares to start on Monday, Raducanu has played down expectations surrounding the competition - while also admitting she's been 'dealing with certain things'.

The British No 1 said: "Truthfully I don't expect much from myself this year. I've been dealing with certain things.

"I just want to go out there and embrace the moment, embrace the occasion.

"I know there aren't many opportunities to be playing at Wimbledon. You get it once a year and for a finite amount of time.

"I'm just looking forward to going out there and feeling the surroundings and the atmosphere.

"Right now I'm just happy to be at Wimbledon. I think that is a great motivation to just keep going and deal with everything else afterwards."

First up for Raducanu is a clash with British star Mingge Xu.

Xu, who is 17, will be aiming to cause a major upset when the duo meet on Court One on Monday.

Raducanu admits her opponent will be 'fearless' when they do battle, while also expressing a belief that Xu will be a 'dangerous' player to face.

"I think it's a very dangerous match, very difficult," continued the 2021 US Open champion.

"Mimi is a really, really good player. I practised with her a few times. She has a lot of weapons, moves really well.

"For her it's one where there's nothing to lose. I remember when I had my first Wimbledon here and I was 18. It's a great feeling. You just feel completely fearless.

"It's going to be a challenge but one I'm looking forward to and I'm ready for. I know I'm going to have to bring a really good level of tennis if I want to get through it."

"It's good to see a new generation. It keeps us on our toes, keeps us hungry to improve."

Meanwhile, another British tennis player in action on Monday is Katie Boulter.

The 28-year-old is 'very excited' to show what she can do as she targets the first major of her career.

Boulter said: "I do feel like I can play very well on these courts.

"I don't think a seed is going to want to see me in their part of the draw for a first round.

"I'm very, very excited. I feel like it's a totally different situation for me coming in this year. I'm not seeded. I'm kind of like a dark horse and I like that feeling.

"I like the fact I can go out and swing free. I've got nothing to lose."
