The 22-year-old eased his way into the last-16 on Wednesday, but the victory was marred by the altercation in the first set.

The Spaniard argued back, insisting: "Yeah but it wasn't my fault, why would I have to cover it when it wasn't my fault?

Umpire Greg Allensworth then responded and reminded Alcaraz of the rules.
"It's what we've been told," he said.

Alcaraz refused to cover the bottle, however, and continued to argue back.
The argument did not appear to have an effect on the 22-year-old as he cruised to victory.

The Spaniard won 13 of the first 14 points in the first set and wrapped up the first set in under half an hour.
The second set wasn't as straightforward for the tennis star as he trailed 4-2, he would go on to win four sets in succession and power his way past Nardi.
