The two tennis superstars will meet before the Australian Open gets underway

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are set to pocket a staggering £1.7m each tomorrow just for stepping onto the court in South Korea.

The world's top two players will clash at the Hyundai Card Super Match in Incheon on Saturday, with their appearance fees alone surpassing what the Australian Open runner-up will take home this month.

It's a remarkable sum when you consider the Melbourne finalist receives £1.6m after battling through six gruelling matches.

All 15,000 tickets for the INSPIRE Arena sold out rapidly when they went on sale last year, with the cheapest seats starting at $170 and premium courtside experiences fetching over $3,000.

This weekend's clash marks a rematch of their three Grand Slam finals from 2025, where they traded blows at tennis's biggest stages.

Alcaraz came out on top at the French Open and US Open, while Sinner claimed victory at Wimbledon.

Neither player has entered an official warm-up tournament before the Australian Open, which gets underway on January 18 in Melbourne.

Their rivals, meanwhile, have been sharpening their games at events like the Brisbane International and United Cup.

Sinner heads into the new season on a 15-match winning streak after capturing titles in Vienna, Paris and the ATP Finals to close out 2025.

Sinner played down the significance of their Seoul showdown when it comes to predicting Australian Open form.

"We're happy to be here, we're happy to provide hopefully good tennis tomorrow," he said.

"But it's not going to reflect on any of us how we're going to start the tournament in Australia."

The pair also teased fans with talk of potentially joining forces for doubles in the future.

"It was once or twice we thought about it," Alcaraz revealed at Friday's press conference. "At least once would be fine. But I think I play forehand and he plays backhand."

Sinner embraced the idea too: "I think it would be fun at least one time to share the court in different ways, on the same side."

Once their Seoul exhibition wraps up, both players will head straight to Melbourne for more action before the main event.

They've signed up for the Million Dollar 1 Point Slam at Rod Laver Arena on January 14, a unique knockout-style event where professionals face amateurs and celebrities with $1m on the line.

Alcaraz will also take on Alex de Minaur in an exhibition during the Australian Open's opening week, while Sinner faces Felix Auger-Aliassime.

When the serious business begins, Sinner will defend his title as the clear favourite, boasting a 22-4 record at Melbourne Park compared to Alcaraz's 11-4.
