Carlos Alcaraz has opened up after booking his place in the final of the Australian Open with a victory over Alexander Zverev that will be discussed for many years to come.
The 22-year-old won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (3-7) 6-7 (4-7) 7-5 in the longest semi-final showdown in the tournament's entire history.
Alcaraz appeared to be in control after winning the first two sets, with the match starting to slip away from his opponent.
Yet with the Spaniard struggling with an injury, Zverev was able to fight his way back into contention to level things up.

The German was in the ascendancy at the start of the fifth and final set when he broke his opponent's serve.
But Alcaraz then managed to transform the tie and book his place in Sunday's final, where he'll face either Jannik Sinner or Novak Djokovic.
It was a sublime display from the world No 1, who is now just one victory away from becoming the youngest man in tennis history to achieve the career Grand Slam.

During the contest, Zverev was frustrated with Alcaraz taking too long to receive treatment - with the 28-year-old seemingly inclined to think that Alcaraz was struggling with cramp.
Now, speaking after the match, Alcaraz indicated he'd recovered from his problem.
The reigning French Open and US Open champion admitted he was delighted at how he was able to reign supreme, while also revealing that he never thought about quitting.

"I won by believing, all the time," he said. "I always say that you have to believe in yourself, no matter what.
"No matter the struggles, no matter anything, you have to all the time.
"I was struggling in the middle of the third set physically, and it was one of the most demanding matches I have ever played in my short career.
"I've been in these kind of situations and matches before.
"I knew what I had to do, I had to put my heart into the match.
"And I did it, I fought until the last ball and knew that I was going to have my chances. I was passionate in the fifth set.

"I’m extremely proud the way I came back in the fifth set. I’m so happy to have a chance to play my first final here in Melbourne. It’s something I've pursued a lot."
Alcaraz also suggested that he was fit enough to play on Sunday, too.
"I am really happy to have the chance to play in my first final in Melbourne," he stated. "I couldn't be here right now without these guys [the crowd] it's a pleasure playing in front of all of you. The way you pushed me back into the match on every ball, every point is crazy.
"Hopefully it will be a good support on Sunday and a great atmosphere, I can't wait.
"Right now, my head is on recovering and trying to be in a good state to put on a show on for you.
"See you on Sunday."
