Tennis champion Andy Murray has brought home a new four-legged companion, announcing the arrival through photographs posted on his social media accounts today.
The former world number one and his spouse Kim have welcomed what seems to be a Flat-Coated Retriever puppy into their household, marking a joyful moment for the family.
This heartwarming development comes approximately eight months following the death of their cherished Border Terrier, Rusty, who passed away in November 2024.
The Scottish athlete posted two images featuring the young canine - one showing Murray beside his new pet and another capturing the puppy at rest in their residence.
Andy Murray shared the news on his social media
|The loss of Rusty had deeply affected the Murray household, with the tennis star sharing an emotional message on social media when announcing the Border Terrier's death.
In his November tribute, Murray wrote: "You were the most loyal and protective companion our family could have wished for. You were so patient and gentle with the kids and we all learned so much from you."

He continued: "The house feels empty without you in it. The noise you made when you wanted a plate to lick, or a biscuit to chew on, or when you wanted anything for that matter, was infuriating at times!
"But today we would do anything to hear it again. Love you Ruzz, rest easy poppet x."
The athlete accompanied his photographs with a simple message: "New addition to the family."
While Murray has not disclosed the puppy's name, the animal's appearance suggests it could be a Flat-Coated Retriever breed.

The timing of this adoption holds particular significance, as Rusty had been Murray's constant companion alongside another Border Terrier named Maggie May, who died in 2022.
Murray had previously characterised Rusty as both a devoted and protective presence in their lives.
The devastating impact of losing both dogs within two years had left a noticeable void in the Murray household, making today's announcement especially meaningful for the family.
