England claimed victory over Spain to win the European Championship in dramatic circumstances

Fresh footage has emerged capturing Ian Wright's jubilant response as England secured their second consecutive Women's European Championship title through a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Spain.

The Arsenal icon, working as part of ITV's broadcast team in Basel, displayed raw emotion throughout the tense finale that concluded 3-1 in England's favour following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

The newly released video reveals Wright's animated reactions during the crucial moments of Sunday's shootout at St. Jakob-Park.

His celebrations reached fever pitch when Spain's Salma Paralluelo missed her attempt, sending her effort wide of the target.

The tension mounted as Wright anxiously watched Chloe Kelly step up to take what would become the decisive penalty.

When the Arsenal forward powerfully struck the ball home, Wright's arms shot skyward in triumph.

Kelly's achievement marked her second winning goal in a European Championship final, having previously netted the decisive strike against Germany in 2022.

England's goalkeeper Hannah Hampton emerged as another hero of the shootout, denying two Spanish penalties with crucial saves.

The victory sealed England's successful defence of their European crown, establishing them as back-to-back champions despite facing world champions Spain in the final.

Wright's exuberance extended beyond individual celebration as he embraced his broadcasting colleagues Karen Carney, Emma Hayes and presenter Laura Woods whilst they absorbed the euphoric atmosphere in Basel.

The former England striker subsequently faced a camera positioned behind the broadcasting area, delivering his signature broad smile and triumphant fist pump.

Looking ahead to the 2027 World Cup, Wright expressed his views on England's primary challengers whilst standing beside current United States manager Hayes.

"They're the favourites, they're the ones to beat. They're so good, they're so good!" Wright stated.

"If we get anywhere near them I'd be really happy because they're the ones, they're major favourites."

The Lionesses will celebrate their triumph with supporters during an open-top bus parade through central London on Tuesday.

The procession is scheduled to commence at approximately 12:10pm, travelling along The Mall before culminating in a ceremonial event on a stage positioned in front of Buckingham Palace.
