Former British tennis star Andy Murray has embarked on a new career in venture capitalism following his retirement from the sport last year.

The 38-year-old Scot, who hung up his racket after representing Team GB at the 2024 Paris Olympics, has made the move into the business world after a brief coaching stint with Novak Djokovic.


The two tennis titans parted ways earlier this month on amicable terms, having first worked together at the Australian Open in January .

Murray is now turning his attention to the financial sector after a distinguished 19-year career in professional tennis.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, the Briton revealed that he's joined London-based investment firm Redrice Ventures as an associate partner.

The company has diverse business interests, including investments in cat food and reusable water bottles.

This isn't Murray's first involvement with the venture capital firm, as he previously worked with Redrice in 2018 as part of a co-investment involving sportswear company Castore.

The move represents a significant career shift for the tennis icon as he transitions from the sporting arena to the business world following his split from coaching Djokovic.

Speaking about his new role, Murray said: "It's difficult to step away from a sport like tennis, which has been so all-consuming for me for so long, and then not have anything to fill that void.

"I've seen it before with other athletes when they haven't had other interests straight after sport, it becomes hard for them to know who they are."

The former world No 1 added: "I'm also only 38 years old, so that's a long time to be retired.

"My plan was always to spend more time on my other business interests once I'd finished playing tennis, and I'm enjoying starting to work on some of those projects now.

"I think for me it's the work ethic and single-minded determination to succeed."

Murray's venture into the business world isn't entirely new territory for the tennis legend. He already maintains a diverse business portfolio that includes a five-star country house hotel in Scotland.

The former champion has also invested in a padel tennis firm, showing his continued connection to racket sports even after retirement.

Additionally, Murray has interests in a crowdfunding platform called Seedrs. These existing business ventures provide a foundation for his new role in venture capitalism, demonstrating his long-term planning for life after professional tennis and his ability to transfer his competitive drive from the court to the boardroom.
