The couple said 'I do' in London after getting back together in January

Laila Rouass has been criticised by fans online for her message on social media after marrying snooker icon Ronnie O'Sullivan.

The pair's relationship seemed to be over last year when it emerged they'd gone their separate ways after 12 years together.

However, late on Thursday night, Rouass took to social media to share a snap from their special day - with the pair beaming as confetti rained down.

Rouass accompanied her post with a message that was signed off with the words 'free Palestine', amid the country's ongoing war with Israel.

She said: "The Palestinians have taught me so much, most importantly to honour human connection, make love your motivator and to keep refreshing it.

"So after almost a year break…this was one way of pressing the refresh button.

"OK...so it wasn't Venice...that was fully booked. It was Cable Street in Shadwell where I was born and where my heart belongs.

"It’s where in 1936, local activists along with the Jewish community gathered together to demonstrate against the planned fascist BUF marchers and it’s on their shoulders we stood today and said our 'I do’s'.

"The Battle of Cable Street was used by my father as an example of how a community rooted in justice, can bring change…that we all have a duty to fight for the freedom and rights of others.

"The East End is the land of the immigrants. Its vibrancy, diversity and working class roots is something I treasure.

"I was born there, I was educated there, today I was married there and I will be buried there because my roots are my roots.

"Free Palestine, Mrs O’Sullivan."

However, some fans have criticised Rouass for her choice of words - with some feeling the message was far too political for such an occasion.

One fan's comment, which has gained over 75 likes at the time of writing, said: "Bizarre post to make when you’ve just got married. Who makes some sort of political point on their wedding day? Very Odd."

A second echoed that sentiment by saying: "Funny, I always thought marriage was about love and unity but never politcs and religion, which is the root off all wars, how bizarre to bring this into your wedding day celebration, but congratulations anyway."

On O'Sullivan's own post about their marriage, others chimed in.

However, many fans were unanimous in their support of the couple.

One supporter stuck up for Rouass by saying: "It only takes a human to understand this beautiful post, don’t waste your time understanding it.

"Take your two cents worth of opinion elsewhere."

A second said: "@damanisam what is really odd is that you pass judgement on what someone chooses to post on their Insta, it’s her feed, her wedding day and her life...."

And a third backed the actress by writing: "Congratulations to you both & thank you for using such an important moment to express your activism!"

O'Sullivan and Rouass will reportedly move to Dubai now they're married.

The couple sold their home in Essex earlier this year after splitting in 2024.
