Tom Brady's representative has categorically denied reports suggesting the former American football quarterback remarked that actress Sofia Vergara is "too old" for him.
The denial follows speculation about a potential romance between Brady and the 53-year-old Modern Family star after they were photographed together during a celebrity cruise aboard the Ritz Carlton's new superyacht, Luminara, in early July.
"Tom never said, nor would he ever say, anything like this. It is pure fiction," the 47-year-old athlete's spokesperson told PEOPLE magazine.
The rumours emerged despite sources indicating the pair are not romantically involved, with their interaction limited to friendly encounters during the luxury voyage.

According to reports, Brady requested to sit beside the Colombian actress during dinner on the voyage, sparking initial speculation about their relationship.
Vergara subsequently posted a photograph on Instagram showing herself seated next to Brady, with singer J Balvin kissing her forehead whilst she laughed with closed eyes and the former quarterback smiled at the camera.
The image fuelled further rumours about a potential romance between the two celebrities.

However, TMZ subsequently reported that whilst the pair appeared to enjoy each other's company during the trip, they were not pursuing a romantic relationship.
The interactions between Brady and Vergara occurred during the superyacht's maiden voyage, a two-night journey from Rome to Malta that commenced on 1 July.
The celebrity-filled voyage attracted numerous high-profile guests beyond Brady and Vergara, including Martha Stewart, Naomi Campbell, Ricky Martin, Kate Hudson, Nina Dobrev, Shaun White, and Kendall Jenner.

Brady's rumoured former flame Irina Shayk was also amongst the 400 guests aboard the luxury vessel.
The gathering represented a who's who of entertainment and sports personalities celebrating the Luminara's inaugural journey.
Both Brady and Vergara have remained largely single following their respective divorces.

The former quarterback separated from supermodel Gisele Bündchen, with whom he shares two children, whilst also co-parenting his eldest son Jack, 17, with ex-partner Bridget Moynahan.
Vergara ended her seven-year marriage to Joe Manganiello in 2023 and has a 32-year-old son, Manolo, from her previous relationship with Joe Gonzales.
In a May appearance on the TODAY show, Vergara discussed her apprehensions about re-entering the dating scene following her divorce.

The Griselda star emphasised that her priority was finding "somebody fun. I need fun in my life."
