Wrestling icon Ric Flair has declared victory over skin cancer, taking to social media to share the triumphant news of his recovery.
The announcement marks a positive turn following his diagnosis in June, when the 76-year-old revealed that he had been diagnosed with the disease. At that time, Flair indicated he would start treatment straight away.
The wrestler's characteristic enthusiasm was evident in his announcement, complete with his signature "WOOOOO!" catchphrase that has defined his decades-long career in professional wrestling.
The Nature Boy's medical struggles extend far beyond his recent cancer battle. In August 2017, he was hospitalised with stomach pains that spiralled into a life-threatening crisis.

Medical professionals gave him minimal odds of pulling through the ordeal. Yet the wrestling legend defied expectations and survived what could have been a fatal combination of conditions.
His resilience in overcoming these severe health challenges has become part of his remarkable story, demonstrating the same fighting spirit that characterised his wrestling career.
This marked Flair's second encounter with skin cancer within a three-year period. Initially, the wrestling star attempted to maintain privacy around his condition, twice refuting reports about his diagnosis.

His son-in-law Conrad Thompson, a wrestling promoter and podcaster, had disclosed that Flair underwent removal of a skin cancer. Despite Thompson's revelation, Flair continued denying he had "any kind" of cancer.
According to PEOPLE magazine, Flair's denials were strategic, allowing him to control when and how he shared his medical situation. The publication reported that after his second denial, Flair eventually acknowledged the diagnosis publicly.

When he finally confirmed the news, he expressed gratitude for the public's concern, stating he "appreciated the concerns" from fans and well-wishers.
Flair's health challenges persisted even during what was meant to be his farewell to wrestling. In 2024, he disclosed that his physician had informed him he'd experienced a heart attack whilst competing in his 2022 retirement bout, though he was unaware of it at the time.
