As the NFL season draws closer the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has come under fire for his physique. A radio presenter has launched a scathing attack on the quarterback following the emergence of Fourth of July holiday photographs showing the NFL star with his wife Brittany.
Kevin Kietzman, who hosts "Uncanceled" on KCMO Talk Radio and the "Kevin Kietzman Has Issues" podcast, criticised the quarterback's apparent physical condition during the offseason break.
The radio host's comments came after images surfaced of Mahomes celebrating America's Independence Day holiday.
Kietzman suggested the three-time Super Bowl champion had gained weight during the summer period and questioned his commitment to maintaining peak fitness levels ahead of the upcoming NFL season.

Kietzman did not mince words in his assessment of the quarterback's condition, stating bluntly: "Vacation photos are popping up of Patrick Mahomes, and he's fat. I'm gonna say it, and I'm gonna tell you the truth, that's why you hit the play button, he's an embarrassment."
The radio presenter expressed particular frustration given Mahomes' substantial contract worth $500 million.
"You're a $500 million quarterback, you've made all these comments in the offseason that 'We're gonna do our talking on the field, we got our butts kicked in the Super Bowl, we're coming back with a vengeance.' Dude, you're fat," Kietzman said.

He urged the quarterback to change his dietary habits, demanding: "Stop the fast food. Do a sit-up. Do something."
Kietzman argued that the quarterback was becoming overly dependent on his natural abilities rather than maintaining the rigorous physical standards expected at the highest level of professional sport.
"Yeah, I'm sure he's worked out and he's strengthened his arm and he's done all kind of different things, quarterback things, but there's no training to this man. I don't understand it," he said.

The radio host emphasised that modern NFL players cannot rely on outdated approaches to fitness.
"Going to camp and getting in shape is like 1970s baseball nobody does that anymore. That's not how it works at the highest level," Kietzman stated.
He added: "I cannot stand it when I see somebody just sit back on their talent and not be the best that they are."
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
Mahomes has previously acknowledged and even embraced his less conventional physique for an elite athlete.
The quarterback gained attention for his so-called "dad bod" appearance and partnered with Coors Light to capitalise on this image.
In an interview with Time Magazine last year, Mahomes defended his build, stating: "I'll also say I have a great body for a quarterback.
"You've got to have some padding in there to take the hits that we take."

The 28-year-old is officially listed at 225 pounds as he prepares for his ninth NFL season.
Kietzman clarified that his concerns were not primarily about weight but rather core strength, stating it "wasn't a weight thing" for him and imploring Mahomes to "do some crunches."
