Luckily, everyone involved in unharmed after a crash involving the Wales women's team bus

The Wales women's football team bus was involved in a road traffic collision whilst travelling to training ahead of their crucial Euro 2025 match against France on Wednesday evening.

All players and staff on board are unharmed, though the incident has left the squad shaken.

The collision occurred as the team were en route to Arena St Gallen for their pre-match training session on Tuesday afternoon. Training was immediately cancelled following the accident.

Manager Rhian Wilkinson, who was travelling separately to attend a press conference, confirmed that everyone involved in the incident is safe, including those in the other vehicle.

The incident took place near the team's hotel as they made their way to Kybunpark stadium in St Gallen.

Wilkinson and captain Angharad James were not on the team bus, having travelled in a separate media car to their scheduled press conference.

Emergency services attended the scene, with officials present to assist. The Football Association of Wales confirmed the collision involved one other car.

The timing proved particularly challenging, occurring just one day before Wales face France in their second Group D match of the tournament.

The squad had been due to complete a team walk of the ground as part of their match preparations.

Speaking at the press conference, Wilkinson emphasised that player welfare takes precedence over match preparation.

"Everyone is ok," she said. "Our priority is to get them all together and away from the scene. We'll be checking in to make sure they all continue to be ok."

She acknowledged the emotional impact on those not present at the scene. "Football is secondary and I think, yes we are shaken because we are away from the team right now knowing that they've had to experience that," Wilkinson explained.

"But equally we have a great group and I have been assured that everyone is fine. We have practiced for the unexpected, that's what we can call this."

The FAW released an official statement confirming: "All passengers on the Cymru National Team bus and in the other vehicle are unharmed.

"The FAW's priority has been to remove the players from the scene and return to the Cymru training base to complete their preparations for tomorrow's match."

Wales may still train later on Tuesday at their team base in Weinfelden, approximately 30 minutes from St Gallen.

The incident comes at a critical juncture for Wales, who are competing at their first ever Women's Euros.

Following their 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in their opening match, Wales could face elimination from the tournament if they lose to France on Wednesday evening.
