NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers has declared that transgender women competing in women's sports is "anti-woman".

The 41-year-old former MVP made the comments during an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

"The trans woman movement is actually anti-woman," Rodgers told Rogan, before clarifying that his statement specifically referred to sports competition.

Rodgers elaborated on his position by highlighting what he sees as fundamental physical disparities between biological males and females.

"You're not seeing trans men dominating anything. It's because there's a biological difference," the quarterback stated.

Joe Rogan agreed with Rodgers' assessment, adding: "It's not bigoted to say that."

The podcast host further criticised the inconsistency in sporting regulations regarding testosterone usage, particularly how it's banned for some athletes but permitted for others.

Rodgers' comments come at a pivotal moment in the ongoing debate, following President Donald Trump's executive order mandating that only biological females be permitted to compete in women's and girls' athletics across the country.

The order, titled "Keeping Men Out of Women's Sports", empowers the Education Department to withhold federal funding from schools that allow transgender women to compete in female sports divisions.

Trump framed the measure as necessary protection to prevent men from "beating and battering female athletes".

Rodgers joins fellow former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre and wide receiver Donald Driver in opposing transgender athletes in women's sports. Favre has been particularly vocal on the topic since 2021.

Public opinion appears to align with these athletes' stance. A January survey found that 79% of Americans believe biological males who identify as women should not compete in women's sports.

Even among Democrats, 67% opposed transgender participation in women's athletics, while 94% of Republicans shared this view.

The controversy has prompted significant political fallout, with numerous Democrat-run states openly defying Trump's executive order. This resistance has triggered federal action on multiple fronts.

The U.S. Department of Education is currently investigating several states' high school sports leagues for potential Title IX violations.

Simultaneously, the Department of Justice has become embroiled in legal battles with Maine and Minnesota over their refusal to implement the restrictions on transgender athletes.
