The 35-year-old is getting involved in acting amid uncertainty over his sporting future

Conor McGregor headbutts Jake Gyllenhaal in a first look at his new film, Road House.

The UFC star is swapping sport for acting, with the film set to release on March 21 on Amazon Prime.


In the first trailer, McGregor storms into a bar with several thugs alongside him - with Gyllenhaal's character sitting down and watching him.

The Irishman has a deranged smile on his face and proceeds to smash up a couple of tables nearby with a crowbar.

Gyllenhaal observes McGregor before standing up to confront the 35-year-old.

The UFC star says: "I've got a tip for you. Don't let no-one get this close."

And he then proceeds to launch a powerful headbutt, with Gyllenhaal's character sent flying back as a result.

McGregor shared the trailer on X, saying: "Fighting, acting, there’s nothing this Mac can’t do!

"Here’s the trailer featuring my brother, Jake Gyllenhaal, and me going toe-to-toe in the wildest action movie ever – Road House!

"My acting debut is gonna leave a mark! Long live Knox!” Road House is open for business March 21 on @primevideo. #RoadHouseMovie."

And fans on the social media platform have been quick to react to the footage.

"One of the best trailers I have ever seen. Will Probably be one of the best movies ever too mate," said one user.

"This genuinely looks good!" a second stated.

A third said: "Give this man the Oscar!!!"

A fourth praised the film by saying: "Proud of you man. Looks good. Can't wait to see it."

And a fifth was positive, adding: "@TheNotoriousMMA hey mate can't wait. Trailer looks insane. Would've been fun on set for sure."

A description of Road House on IMDB says: "An ex-UFC middleweight fighter ends up working at a rowdy bar in the Florida Keys where things are not as they seem."

The film is directed by Douglas Eric Liman, who has helmed several successful films over the years.

They include The Bourne Identity, Jumper, Mr and Mars Smith, Edge of Tomorrow and Swingers.

Other cast members for the film include Daniela Melchior and Billy Magnussen.

Melchior has appeared in hits such as The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3.

And Magnussen has starred in Game Night, Into the Woods and James Bond film No Time to Die.

Discussing Road House at the end of last year, meanwhile, McGregor boasted about being the highest-paid first-time actor of all time.

"I am the highest paid first time actor of all time," he said.

McGregor has previously lended his voice to video games.

He has appeared in EA Sports UFC 3 and EA Sports UFC 2, while also appearing in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare as Captain Bradley Fillion.
