Olympic swimming star Adam Peaty is facing fresh turmoil behind the scenes of his glittering career as his mother, Caroline, has spoken of her “heartbreak” over a deepening family rift that has now involved police, an arrest and mounting tensions on both sides of the aisle ahead of his wedding next month.
The triple Olympic champion, 30, had been celebrating his stag party in Budapest when his fiancée Holly Ramsay phoned police in Britain, reportedly fearing he could be confronted upon landing back in the UK.
When Peaty’s plane touched down at Manchester Airport, officers were waiting and escorted him through arrivals as a precaution.
Shortly afterwards, the swimmer’s elder brother James, 34, was arrested at his Staffordshire home on suspicion of harassment.

He was later released on conditional bail while enquiries continue. Staffordshire Police said: “We arrested a 34-year-old man on November 11, 2025, on suspicion of harassment. The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.”
Now Adam’s mother has stepped forward, describing the anguish of feeling cut off as her son prepares to marry into the famous Ramsay family, whose patriarch Gordon and wife Tana are expected to attend the ceremony at Bath Abbey alongside celebrity friends including Sir David and Victoria Beckham.
Caroline, who was not invited to Holly’s hen party and has reportedly been told she will not be attending the wedding, insists she wants reconciliation.

| PACaroline admitted she had reached “rock bottom” over the situation and said she feared her son was being “pulled away” from his family and towards the Ramsays, in a clear dig at Gordon.
Adam’s father, Mark, also addressed the widening conflict, describing the tension between his sons as something that “got out of hand.”
He told The Sun: “They’ve always been close but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make up… But it’s got out of hand."
A source close to Adam and Holly has suggested the couple felt forced into a protective stance, saying: “The reality is that Adam sees his mum Caroline to be enabling his brother’s actions rather than pushing him to deal with his demons.
“Poor Caroline must feel utterly torn and it’s just very hard for everyone.
“Gordon has been incredibly supportive… he’s been through similar issues with his own brother.”
Adam Peaty has won three gold medals during his Olympics career | PAThe strain has already affected Peaty’s professional commitments. He was due to travel to Orlando for a two-day training clinic with young swimmers through his AP Race company but has now cancelled.
A source said: “With everything going on Adam is going to remain in the UK. His team will still be delivering a first-class clinic.”
Friends of Peaty insist that recent events reflect long-standing issues rather than disputes over wedding invitations.
One said: “Things escalated when someone became increasingly abusive and threatening over text… He then received a threat that he’d be met off the plane. Holly called the cops after consulting with her family.
"The police were sufficiently concerned that they went to the airport to accompany him.”
As the wedding approaches, hopes of a family truce remain. However, as things stand, the feud shows no sign of dying down.
