Manchester United have delayed a decision on Mason Greenwood's future because they want to consult five players who are currently competing at the Women's World Cup.
The striker was arrested in January 2022 but, back in February 2023, charges of attempted rape and assault were dropped.
Greenwood is now free to resume his career in football and United had been expected to make a final decision on the 21-year-old's future before Monday's Premier League clash with Wolves.
However, according to The Guardian, the plan has now changed.

It's said that United want to consult players who are currently competing at the Women's World Cup.
Mary Earps, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem are representing England, with the trio hoping to feature in Saturday's showdown with Colombia.
And Aissatou Tounkara and Estelle Cascarino are currently at the tournament with France.
United believe that making the correct decision is 'more important than an arbitrary deadline'.
Stakeholders and major sponsors are being consulted, while United are also getting information from the football department and supporters as well.
On Thursday, the Red Devils announced their provisional shirt numbers for the upcoming Premier League season.
However, Greenwood's name was left off the list with his No 11 shirt still occupied.
The 21-year-old has been training with a private coach as he looks to regain match fitness, having last played professionally in 18 months.
Greenwood has also recently become a father and is due to get married.
Meanwhile, a group of United fans have confirmed they're planning on staging protests regarding Greenwood prior to their match with Wolves on Monday.
"It’s time for the club to stand up and make the right decision.
“It’s time to say, ‘We have high standards at United about how we expect players to conduct themselves and, if you do not meet those standards, you need to be moved out.’
“This is a tipping point for the club.
"Are they going to side with commercialism and trophies and money?
"Or are they going to take the side of match-going fans and the club being a social and community institution that we can be proud of, and proud to have as part of our identity?”
And a second said: “One thing I’ve been really proud about is how united the match-going fanbase has been on this issue.
“There is potentially a bit of a divide with the online fanbase, who have been more supportive of Greenwood.
"But there seems to be genuine unity among the match-going fans. The nature of the audio means people have been really unified in being outraged and disgusted by it.”
She added: “As female fans, we have always been slightly marginalised.
"Sometimes your voice is ignored and you don’t get taken as seriously as others.

"On an issue like this, it feels like an attack on all of us.
"We have to be hopeful the club do the right thing because, if Greenwood did come back, it would be serious enough to make many fans re-evaluate their relationship with the club.”
