Tommy Fleetwood's last-gasp bogey on the 18th hole at the Travelers Championship ended up costing him over £10million in prize money.
The Englishman was the hot favourite going into the final day of the PGA Tour event and looked on course to claim victory as he held a two-shot lead with three holes to play.
However, after a fine tee shot on the 18th, Fleetwood missed a six-foot putt to par the final hole and forced him into a bogey.
Keegan Bradley then slotted in a birdie, seeing him leapfrog ahead of the 34-year-old in dramatic fashion right at the death.
Tommy Fleetwood led by three strokes with only four holes to play before finishing runners-up
Getty"I'm gutted right now," said Fleetwood.
"I've not been in that situation for a long time. It's probably the worst way to finish.

"Leading by two with three to play. Leading by one going into the last and you don't even make it to a play-off. It's the worst way it could go."
Not only did Fleetwood miss out on a first PGA Tour victory, he also missed out on millions in cash.
With a total purse of $20million (£15m), there was plenty of money up for grabs at the event, which took place at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut.
As the winner, Bradley left the competition with a cool $3.6m (£2.7m).
Fleetwood, though, had to make do with $1.76m (£1.3m) after finishing tied-second with Russell Henley on 14-under - missing out on over half of what he could have won had he hit his putt.
It is a sobering blow for the Southport-born star - though still not a figure to be sniffed at - and he was critical of his own performance.

He said: "A couple of wrong clubs down the last couple. I didn't putt great today after putting well all week. There was a stretch on the back nine where I should have taken control.
"I left one in the jaws on 12 and I was playing good. On 14, a weak putt. On 16, a tough up and down.
"I was feeling good after flashing the drive on 18 but we got that one wrong and left it in the worst possible spot in front of Keegan's ball.
"Then I didn't hit the best putt. Things to work on. I hadn't been in that situation for a long time and I felt I did a good job for the most part.

"But it's the worst way to finish: leading by two with three to play and then leading by one down the last but not even making a play-off."
Bradley, who will captain Team USA at the Ryder Cup, admitted his shock at landing victory and said: "I felt like I was just too far behind the whole day. I was just chasing, chasing.
"I just had that feeling that I was just too far behind the whole day, but I came in here and made the putts when I needed to."
