Spectators at this week’s Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black will enjoy unlimited food and soft drinks — but only after paying one of the highest ticket prices in golf history.
Around 50,000 fans are expected to flood through the gates each day as the USA and Europe go head-to-head in the 45th edition of golf’s most prestigious team event.
Unlike at most major sporting occasions, attendees will not have to pay for individual meals, with their tickets including access to food and beverage stations around the course.
However, the privilege comes at a premium. Daily tickets for the Ryder Cup started at an eye-watering $750 (£555), sparking criticism when prices were first announced.
Organisers have pointed out that the fee covers unlimited visits to catering tents throughout the day — meaning spectators can refuel as often as they wish.
Fans can collect one main item per visit, with choices ranging from burgers, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches to vegetarian options, plus one snack such as crisps or cookies and a soft drink.

Repeat trips are allowed, but alcohol is excluded from the all-inclusive offering.
Those hoping to enjoy a beer or glass of wine while following the action will still need deep pockets.

| GETTYA 16oz (473ml) Michelob Ultra or Bud Light is priced at $15 (£11.10), while a premium beer costs $16 (£11.84).
Larger servings are available, including a 25oz (740ml) Michelob Ultra for $18 (£13.32) and a 19.2oz (UK pint) premium beer for $19 (£14.06).
Alcohol-free options are similarly expensive, with a 12oz Michelob Ultra Zero retailing at $12 (£8.88).
Wine enthusiasts can opt for a $14 (£10.36) glass of chardonnay, while a flute of Moët & Chandon Brut champagne will set fans back $22 (£16.28).

Team Europe will be out to retain the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black this week
| GETTYCocktails are also on offer at $17.50 (£12.95) or $19.50 (£14.43) — though somewhat ironically, Long Island Iced Tea is not on the menu despite the venue’s location.
All prices are subject to New York’s sales tax of around eight per cent, and visitors are also expected to tip servers — adding even more to the final bill for those indulging in alcohol.
The Ryder Cup is renowned for its unique fan atmosphere, with early-morning chants and raucous cheers around the first tee setting the tone for the day.
Organisers will hope the all-inclusive catering offering helps keep the crowds well-fed and hydrated as they follow what promises to be a dramatic contest between Luke Donald’s Europe and Keegan Bradley’s USA.
For many, the hefty ticket price is worth it for a once-in-a-lifetime sporting spectacle — but those seeking a pint of beer with their golf will still need to budget accordingly.
