The 35-year-old will be hoping to secure another major this week following his stunning triumph at Augusta last weekend

Rory McIlroy has sent a remarkable gift to the creator of the ball marker that helped him win the Masters last month, showing his class in the process.

The Northern Irishman finally claimed the elusive green jacket at Augusta National, completing his career Grand Slam in dramatic fashion.

McIlroy defeated Justin Rose in a sudden-death play-off after his fellow Briton had made a late charge for the title.

Despite his hectic schedule and newfound wave of popularity, the 36-year-old has made time to thank those who contributed to his success.

The gift sent to Jon from Golf Life Metals included a Masters flag personally signed by McIlroy with the message: "Jon, thanks for all the ball markers over the years!"

Alongside the flag, McIlroy included a glass box containing miniature replicas of all the trophies that make up his career Grand Slam.

The thoughtful present recognised the craftsman's contribution to McIlroy's historic victory at Augusta.

Golf Life Metals shared the gift on X, formerly Twitter, posting a photo of the items received from McIlroy.

The company expressed their gratitude, writing: "I have won some trophies myself, but this takes the cake. My golf life is blessed, thank you very much Rory McIlroy."

In previous social media posts, Golf Life Metals had showcased the special marker used by McIlroy during his Masters victory.

The special marker used by McIlroy featured a simplified Manchester United crest engraved on one side with his initials in the centre.
