The world No 1 has now won a second green jacket

Masters champion Scottie Scheffler looked emotional while discussing pregnant wife Meredith Scudder following his triumph at Augusta.

The 27-year-old won a second green jacket, two years after claiming his first, with a sensational performance in Georgia on Sunday.

Scheffler and Meredith are expecting their first child together this month.

And the Masters champion has now sent a sweet message to his wife, telling her he's coming home and will be there as quickly as he can.

"I'm coming home," he said. "I'm coming home as quick as I can.

"Yeah, I love you and I'm coming home. That's all."

When quizzed further, he joked: "You're going to make me cry.

"It's a very, very special time for both of us. I really can't put into words what it means to win this tournament again, I really can't put into words what it's going to be like to be a father for the first time.

"So I'm looking forward to getting home and celebrating with Meredith, it's been a long week here without her.

"But I'm just looking forward to getting home."

Scheffler didn't look nervous whatsoever as he shot his way to victory, showing why he's world No 1 in the process.

However, the American did admit he had to force himself to stay calm as he closed in on glory.

"I did my best to stay calm out there," he admitted. "I tried to stay patient out on the course and was able to make some key shots and key putts today.

"Ludvig [Aberg] played great today, he made a good move at me on the back nine and I was fortunate to hold him off there towards the end."

Sky Sports pundits were full of praise for Scheffler, with Butch Harmon praising the 27-year-old for the way he overcame some issues on Friday to remain in the mix.

"He was very impressive, everything he has done this year is impressive," he said.

"People forget how good he was on Friday in all that wind when he could have blown himself out of contention.

"There is a reason he is No 1 in the world, a reason he has won two Masters, a reason he is the man!"

He continued: “He is a wonderful human being, the kind of person we would all like to be.
