The three-time PGA Tour winner had managed to avoid unanswered questions over his long absence from professional golf in his first two events with LIV.
But he's now given an insight into what his life was like in the last decade in a sit-down interview with LIV announcer David Feherty.
Kim alluded to addiction issues and fell out of love with golf until his wife wanted to learn how to play.
“I’ve had some very dark moments," he said.
"I’ve had some very low moments. I felt very alone, even when there’s a million people around.
"I needed to get my mind on straight and figure out what my purpose was on this planet.”
He added: "I was around some bad people.
"People that took advantage of me. Scam artists. And when you're 24 or 25, even 30 years old, you don't realise the snakes that are living under your roof.
"But through the grace of God, I'm here. I'm able to tell my story, hopefully inspire other people."
The 38-year-old also spoke out on the reported £8million insurance policy that is said to have kept him from playing professional golf.
