The two-time US Open winner is in negotiations for a new deal with the breakaway league

Bryson DeChambeau has confirmed that discussions over a new LIV Golf contract are continuing, with the American expressing confidence that both sides can reach an agreement.

The 32-year-old, who joined the Saudi-backed league in June 2022 in what he called a "business decision," sees his current deal expire at the end of this season.

Reports have indicated the two-time major winner may be pursuing a contract worth approximately $500million (£370.5m).

"We're still working on a potential contract," DeChambeau told Flushing It Golf after the LIV Golf Mexico City event.

The two-time US Open winner continued: "I haven't given up on that, and I think there will be a solution.

"But as of right now, my job is to help make the league work after this year. I just feel like I have a responsibility.

"I've put a lot of effort into it. So that's what I'm going to do, we're going to make this work.

"As long as LIV is here, I would figure out a way for it to make sense."

Speculation about the tour's future has been in the headlines after reports suggesting Saudi backing could cease when the 2026 season concludes.

The Telegraph reported last week that senior LIV executives had gathered for a "secret emergency meeting" to address the funding concerns.

However, a LIV Golf spokesman told Sky Sports that no such meeting occurred, explaining that key officials had instead been participating in the pro-am ahead of the Mexico City tournament.

DeChambeau, who withdrew from last week's event at Club de Golf Chapultepec with a wrist injury, acknowledged the challenging circumstances facing the breakaway circuit.

He said: "There's a lot of moving parts, like in any business. It's a startup, right? And so there's going to be times where we're squeezed and punched.

"This is one of those moments. But I'm going to do everything in my power to make it work, and I really see the value in franchise golf.

"And, you know, another reason why I'm doing this is not just for myself and the team aspect that I really believe in on the Crushers side.

"It's for Michael LaSasso. It's for Caleb Surratt. It's for Josele Ballester. It's for David Puig."

DeChambeau added: "Jon [Rahm], Phil [Mickelson], DJ [Dustin Johnson] and I, and the guys that have been here from the start, we're okay.

"It's now our responsibility to take care of these kids who believe in us. That's why I'm really doing it. There's so much value to squeeze out of this whole thing for golf."

The LIV Golf League anticipates that 10 of its teams will turn a profit during the 2026 campaign, with all 13 franchises entering the season with major sponsorship partners.

Since its establishment in 2021 as a rival to the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, LIV Golf claims to have generated $1bn (£740m) worldwide, including $81.46m (£60.4m) from the Adelaide event alone.
