The Hollywood high life has ended for some

Wrexham have announced they will not be renewing eight players' contracts when they expire this summer.

The Welsh team has shown few signs of slowing down their momentum since they were taken over by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in November 2020.

Wrexham have now recorded three consecutive promotions, with Phil Parkinson’s side finishing second in League One to secure their first appearance in the second tier of English football for more than 40 years.

After their league success, the team was treated to an all-expenses-paid end-of-season party in Las Vegas.

While some players will look to make history with promotion to the Premier League next season, that will not be the case for some, as their time with the Red Dragons has come to an end.

The club has announced a series of departures as part of their 2025 released/retained list.

The most shocking name not to be offered a new deal is former Premier League striker Steven Fletcher.

The 38-year-old netted eight times this season, but found himself consigned to the bench for most of the season as his influence on the games slowly reduced.

Also shown the door is goalkeeper Mark Howard, after spending three years at the Racecourse.

The keeper was a staple during Wrexham’s National League campaign, but has been ousted this season by the arrival of Ben Foster.

He managed ten league appearances this season after injuries to others.

"From the moment I pulled on the Wrexham shirt, I have tried to bring professionalism, passion, and personality to the club," Howard wrote on social media.

"As I reflect on what an incredible journey it's been, I consider myself fortunate to have shared a dressing room with the best teammates.

"Every day I have left with a smile on my face wanting to come back and do it all over again."

Meanwhile, Jordan Davies, Josh Adam, Harry Dean, Brad Foster, and Liam Hall all depart the club after failing to make a league appearance this season.

The club also noted that striker Sam Dalby was offered a new deal but turned it down and will leave the club as a free agent.

Wrexham will look to make it four consecutive promotions when they start their campaign in the Championship next season.
