Wayne Rooney has recalled how he once made Brooklyn Beckham cry during a dinner at David and Victoria Beckham’s home.
Speaking on The Wayne Rooney Show podcast,, the former England captain said the incident happened when he and wife Coleen were invited to the Beckhams’ house as teenagers.
“I remember years ago we got invited to Becks’ for dinner,” Rooney said.
“It was me, Lamps [Frank Lampard] and a couple more players. We went to his house, me and Coleen, we were only 19 or something. We were like ‘this is weird, what’s happening here?’

“Had a walk around and he’s showing us round his house and then I open a door and his eldest boy [Brooklyn]… I bumped his head and he started crying.
"I thought ‘oh Jesus Christ’. Opened the door and bumped his head. But yeah, that was surreal and we sat there with Becks and Victoria having dinner.”
Asked by broadcaster Kelly Cates if the meal was “posh,” Rooney explained it was far more down to earth.
“No. We met up with Becks and Victoria, me and Coleen, when he was at Madrid and went for dinner then and we were having kebabs,” he added.

“He’s obviously a great lad and Victoria’s such a lovely woman and they’re funny. A lot funnier than people would think.”
Rooney also shared several other anecdotes from his early career.
He revealed how Coleen once painted his toenails the night before his first England call-up while he was asleep, much to his dismay.
“I remember the night before we were meeting up, I was in Coleen’s mum and dad’s house and I fell asleep on the couch,” he explained.

“Coleen painted my toenails while I was asleep, and I had no idea. It was like a see-through glossy type thing.
"I couldn’t see it, but if you really look close, obviously you could see it.”
The prank caused him embarrassment when he reported for duty. “I got to England and then you get on with the physios and massages," he stated.
"I went to one of the masseurs and he said, ‘Have you painted your toenails? I didn’t have you down for that.’ I was raging, I was fuming.”
Rooney also admitted to wearing the wrong boots in his first England training session.
He explained: “They took my boots from me. I looked at my boots, my boots were size 11, they were Steve Watson’s boots, so I took the wrong boots!
"I went out, I wore them, didn’t tell anyone. I put three pairs of socks on, wore the boots and I was okay until more boots were sent.”
Away from football, Rooney said Coleen used to choose his clothes before they had children.

| GETTY“Coleen used to leave my clothes out the night before. So every day, she’d put my clothes out, ironed and ready for me to put on the next morning," he said with a laugh.
"Now I’ve got to get up and get my own clothes, I’m fuming."
