Ange Postecoglou has been sacked as head coach of Tottenham Hotspur after two seasons in charge, despite ending their 17-year wait for a trophy.
The club confirmed the decision on X: "Following a review of performances and after significant reflection, the Club can announce that Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties."
Brentford's Thomas Frank is now the leading contender to replace Postecoglou, with Marko Silva also highly appreciated by chairman Daniel Levy.
Tottenham beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final last month, but it was not enough for the Australian to remain in charge.
The north London side endured a torrid campaign in the league last year, finishing 17th with 22 losses.
It is the largest amount of losses amassed by a club that has not been relegated.

He continued: "We have also laid foundations that mean this club should not have to wait 7 more years for their next success. I have enormous faith in this group of players and know there is much more potential and growth in them.

Postecoglou joined Tottenham after winning a historic treble with Celtic.
In his first season in north London, the Australian was known for an exciting and brave style of football dubbed 'Ange-ball', finishing fifth.
This was a stark contrast to their eighth-place finish the year prior, in a season that began with Italian Antonio Conte in charge, but ultimately led to two caretaker managers.
One of whom was Ryan Mason, who also left the club this week.
This season under Postecoglou, the wheels have fallen off the 'Ange-ball' parade somewhat, with the team enduring a difficult 2024/25.
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
The team's exploits in Europe have been a saving grace for a season that has been nothing short of disastrous domestically.
They have endured a multitude of injuries, particularly to their defence, with notable absences including Micky van de Ven, Christian Romero and Destiny Udogie.
Despite their struggles in this campaign, however, Postecoglou will be remembered for his famous premonition that he "always wins things in his second year".
That, he did, and Tottenham tasted European glory in a night that will go down in their history.
