The Portuguese has overseen three consecutive Premier League victories for the first time in his Manchester United career

Ruben Amorim couldn't hide his delight after watching Manchester United secure a 4-2 victory over Brighton at Old Trafford, but the Portuguese manager struck a cautious note about his team's recent upturn in form.

The win marked United's third consecutive Premier League triumph, something they hadn't managed since February 2024, and temporarily lifted them to fourth place in the table.

The Portuguese, who celebrated enthusiastically when Bryan Mbeumo made it 3-0, acknowledged that his side nearly threw away their commanding lead when Brighton pulled two goals back in the closing stages.

His message, though, was clear: enjoy the moment, but remember how quickly fortunes can change in football.

"I feel good. Three points at home. We played well," Amorim told reporters after the match. "We suffered in the end, a little bit our fault.

"After the third goal, the noise of the stadium was not normal. It was like a different moment. It was the first time I felt that sound, that environment. It was a very good moment for me."

But Amorim remained grounded about the team's progress, warning: "Now we enjoy today but tomorrow we prepare the next one. Look at the table, two weeks can change everything.

"It's so hard to get good feelings in this moment in our club. We need to have that fear of returning to bad form."

It was a special day for summer signing Matheus Cunha, who broke his duck after 16 matches without finding the net for club and country with a sublime finish into the bottom corner.

And after the match, the Brazilian struggled to contain his excitement as he finally capped yet another brilliant performance off with a goal.

"We are a little bit anxious when you play in front to score goals," Cunha admitted. "But of course with this goal everyone will be around me to push me. Everyone is joking, 'Oh you can score, wow.'

"I was joking with Bryan and [Benjamin] Sesko because they had the feeling and I needed to have it!"

"This is the club I grew up watching. To be here is a mix of sensations. My first one here at Old Trafford. I dreamed a lot of this."

The match had looked comfortable for United when they established a three-goal cushion through Cunha's brilliant curling effort, Casemiro's deflected strike and Mbeumo's clinical finish after the hour mark.

But Brighton refused to surrender. Danny Welbeck's spectacular free-kick against his former club reduced the deficit with 16 minutes remaining, before Charalampos Kostoulas headed home from James Milner's corner in stoppage time.

With United suddenly looking nervous at 3-2, it took Mbeumo's second goal of the afternoon, smashed high into the net from close range, to finally settle any lingering doubts.

The victory means United have won three straight league matches for the first time under Amorim, and find themselves, temporarily, in the Champions League spots behind Manchester City on goal difference.

The Red Devils now face a tough trip to the City Ground to face Sean Dyche’s revitalised Nottingham Forest, in what is certain to be a stern test of United’s steel.
