The Gunners lost 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday, with Erling Haaland scoring the winner

Roy Keane found himself at odds with fellow Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville and Micah Richards during a fiery post-match debate following Arsenal's 2-1 loss to Manchester City on Sunday.

The former Manchester United captain refused to acknowledge any silver linings from the Gunners' performance at the Etihad, despite his colleagues arguing that Mikel Arteta's side had shown promising signs in defeat.

Goals from Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland secured victory for City, with Kai Havertz's equaliser coming courtesy of a mistake from goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The result leaves City trailing Arsenal by just three points with a match in hand, potentially shifting momentum in the title race as the Gunners chase their first league triumph in 22 years.

Keane was uncompromising in his assessment, insisting that how a team plays counts for nothing when points are dropped during a championship battle.

"That is the challenge for Arsenal; playing under pressure," he stated.

"City have been the best team in this country by far for the last six years - imagine the pressure they have been under. You get the plaudits - it is no good getting plaudits when you get beaten."

When Richards pressed him on whether he could find anything encouraging from the display, Keane was blunt.

"No. They are Arsenal Football Club, they are not a small club," he replied.

The Irishman pointed to City's own situation, noting that Pep Guardiola's men faced a must-win scenario at home, with defeat effectively ending their title hopes.

Richards attempted to make his case, highlighting that Arsenal had defied expectations by pressing high rather than sitting deep.

"We thought Arsenal would go in a low block," he explained. "Today they showed they are a better team when they press."

Keane remained unmoved, firing back: "You are surprised Arsenal came and did well? Do you want the plaudits or the points? What do you want?"

When Neville suggested Arteta would tell his players he was proud of their performance, Keane's response was withering.

"Wow. I'm proud of you?" he said, gesturing towards a glass on the table.

"Gary, man, what's in that drink there? I'm proud of you, really?"

Neville quipped to Richards that Keane was "an immovable object at this point."

The former United skipper concluded sarcastically: "I'm proud of that goal we give away, a defining moment? It's in the goalkeeper's hands and 10 seconds later it's a goal? That isn't something to be proud of."

Despite the studio disagreement, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta struck a composed tone in his post-match comments, expressing confidence that his squad remains in control of their destiny.

"There are five games to go, but we're going to give a real go for it. We have full belief we can do it," he said.

The Spaniard referenced his team's recent Champions League outing against Sporting as evidence of their quality, while acknowledging the demanding fixture schedule his players face.

"We are the only team that's playing, playing, playing and playing," Arteta noted.

"But the positive thing is we have seen the level, we can cope with that, and not just that but do even better."

He added: "Today we have shown the team that we are.

"It's still in our hands, and it's there for the taking."
