The broadcaster has announced a new daily TV show that the star will host

Television presenter Roman Kemp has secured a position with Sky Sports to front their new Friday evening Premier League programme beginning on August 15.

The One Show host will present Premier League Friday, which will broadcast at 5pm on Sky Sports News.

Despite being an avid Arsenal supporter and participating in Soccer Aid charity matches, Kemp has no previous experience in football broadcasting.

The son of Spandau Ballet musician Martin Kemp expressed his enthusiasm for the role.

"Football means more to me than anything. To be a part of a show like this building up to the biggest games in world football is a real privilege. I can't wait to get going and as a fan, do this show justice," Kemp stated.

Sky Sports has secured a partnership with the Premier League that will see them broadcast a minimum of 215 matches during the 2025/26 season, representing a substantial increase from their previous allocation of 128 games.

The broadcaster will hold exclusive rights to 80 per cent of all televised Premier League fixtures under this new landmark agreement.

To complement this expanded coverage, Sky Sports News is introducing The Premier League Show, a weekday programme that will air from Monday to Friday between 5pm and 7pm.

This daily programme aims to become the primary destination for football enthusiasts, featuring breaking news, comprehensive features and specialist analysis.

The Friday edition will feature a rotating panel of experts and reporters who will examine football's major talking points whilst previewing the upcoming weekend fixtures.

From Monday to Thursday, presenting responsibilities will be shared between Julian Warren and Emma Paton, with each broadcast incorporating a specialist reporter and pundit to analyse the day's key Premier League developments.

Kemp's inaugural broadcast coincides with the season's opening fixture between Liverpool and Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The appointment forms part of Sky's strategy to appeal to younger audiences.

This recruitment follows a period of significant restructuring at the broadcaster, which saw senior personnel depart in June.

Among those leaving were presenters Melissa Reddy, Rob Wotton, Teddy Draper and Jasper Taylor, alongside senior reporters Jeremy Langdon and Fadumo Olow.

Wotton received an emotional send-off after three decades of service, whilst Reddy criticised the online harassment she endured during her five-year tenure.

The Premier League Show represents a crucial component of Sky's approach to maximising their new broadcasting arrangement, providing comprehensive daily coverage to support their unprecedented match allocation.
