Richard Keys has suggested a fundamental overhaul of football's penalty shootout format following England's triumph at Euro 2025.
The former Sky Sports presenter believes that teams gain an unjust benefit when taking spot kicks before their own supporters.
Keys, currently employed by beIN Sports, voiced his concerns after the Lionesses secured their second consecutive European championship through a penalty shootout victory over Spain in Basel.
He maintains that the existing system creates an imbalance that favours whichever team shoots towards their fans.

Keys articulated his position on social media platform X, writing: "Pens in front of your own fans is a distinct advantage. We should take them at both ends but for now - Come on England."
The broadcaster's comments emerged as England capitalised on winning the coin toss to take their penalties at the end housing their supporters at the final.
Under existing regulations, two coin tosses determine penalty shootout procedures - one decides the shooting end and another establishes which team begins.

England won the crucial toss after Sunday's match remained deadlocked following extra-time, opting to take their spot kicks where their supporters were concentrated.
The match had seen Spain take the lead through Mariona Caldentey before Alessia Russo equalised in the second half.
Neither side could find a winner in the additional period, forcing the championship to be decided from 12 yards.

England's decision to shoot towards their fans proved significant as they converted their penalties to secure consecutive European titles, with goalkeeper Hannah Hampton making two crucial saves.
Chloe Kelly netted the winner, with the Arsenal star blasting her effort high into the roof of the net to secure glory.
It makes England's second triumph at the European Championships, having previously overcome Germany three years ago.
The Lionesses have also become the first England side to win a trophy on foreign soil, while their victory came after they'd previously lost to Spain in the final of the 2023 Women's World Cup.
Keys, meanwhile, has frequently courted controversy with his social media pronouncements.
Earlier this year, he suggested Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was deliberately seeking dismissal amid torrid results at Old Trafford - with the Portuguese struggling to turn things around at the fallen giants following his arrival from Sporting Lisbon back in November.
