The England international recently confirmed he'd be leaving Anfield behind

Real Madrid are reportedly looking to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold in before the end of his contract, which expires on June 30.

The Liverpool-born defender is believed to have verbally agreed to join the LaLiga giants in the summer, signing a six-year deal.

Real are prepared to pay a small transfer fee of around €1 million (£850,000) to bring the right-back in to feature during their Club World Cup campaign, which begins on the 18th June against Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal, according to Cadena Cope.

By this time, Liverpool will have concluded their title-winning Premier League season and will not participate in the Club World Cup.

The Premier League announced in March that there will be two transfer windows this summer, with the first between June 1st and June 10th.

This is to allow clubs competing in the Club World Cup to complete transfers before the competition, and would make an early move for the 26-year-old possible.

Real Madrid had tried to bring Alexander-Arnold to the club in January, offering a £20 million fee after current right-back Dani Carvajal’s season-ending injury - with this bid rejected by Liverpool.

He continued: "This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life," whilst also stating Liverpool has been ‘the club of my whole life for 20 years'.

Alexander-Arnold has made 352 senior appearances for Liverpool, winning nine major trophies, including two Premier Leagues and a Champions League.

The right-back also has the record for the most amount of Premier League assists by a defender, 58, one ahead of his team-mate, Andy Robertson.

Jamie Carragher, meanwhile, feels Liverpool fans have every right to be unhappy with Alexander-Arnold's imminent exit.

"Liverpool are in the business of winning more Premier League and Champions League titles," he wrote in his column for the Telegraph.

"Anything which undermines that is a threat.

"You may not agree, or believe that competitive attitude to the loss of a star player is justified, but it is what makes Liverpool the successful club it is, and it is no different than what you would expect at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona or Manchester United.

"By leaving Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold is making it harder for his own club to win its 21st league title and seventh European Cup. That is bound to stir emotions."
