The Premier League showdown between Aston Villa and Bournemouth was suspended in the opening minutes after a clash of heads between Cherries teammates Tyler Adams and Adam Smith.
Smith was forced out of the clash, with the 34-year-old replaced by Alex Jimenez.
It was to set for the tone for a disappointing day for the visitors, who couldn't cope with Villa in the first half.

Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a positive start to life under Sean Dyche ever since he arrived to replace Ange Postecoglou.
And they continued their resurgence under the 54-year-old with a 2-1 victory over Leeds at the City Ground.
Leeds went into the fixture as the underdogs.
But Daniel Farke's men didn't originally read the script, with Lukas Nmecha giving the visitors a shock lead in the 15th minute.
Ibrahim Sangare levelled just two minutes later, however.
And Morgan Gibbs-White, who scored against Manchester United last week, bagged again with Elliot Anderson converting a late penalty to claim all three points.

Newcastle's poor away form continued on Sunday, with Brentford coming from behind to win 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The hosts' day got off to a nightmare start with Harvey Barnes netting after a neat touch from Nick Woltemade.
But Brentford staged a stunning second-half comeback. Firstly, Kevin Schade bagged in the 56th minute to draw his side level.
And with Dan Burn dismissed, Igor Thiago stepped up to score from the penalty spot with just 12 minutes left on the clock before the forward netted another in stoppage time to make the result safe.

Crystal Palace and Brighton is, historically, an entertaining spectacle.
That wasn't the case on Sunday, however, with both teams surprisingly flat at Selhurst Park.
Brighton thought they'd secured a penalty when Georginio Rutter went down inside the Palace box.
However, following a VAR review, the decision was overturned with Rutter booked for diving. In the end, both sides couldn't find a winner.
