Reports broke on Monday that Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the end of the week

Pep Guardiola insisted he has not made up his mind on his future yet, disputing reports that he will stand down this week as Manchester City manager.

City's Premier League title hopes came to a definitive end on Tuesday evening following a 1-1 stalemate at the Vitality Stadium, a result that crowned Arsenal as champions for the 2025/26 season.

The draw against Bournemouth extinguished any remaining possibility of Guardiola claiming a seventh league triumph with the club.

Speculation surrounding the Catalan manager's future intensified after reports emerged just 24 hours before kick-off suggesting he would depart this summer.

Despite questions about his position being prohibited before the match, Guardiola faced inevitable scrutiny afterwards and addressed the mounting uncertainty over whether he will remain at the Etihad.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Guardiola insisted any decision would only come following discussions with those above him at the club.

"I can say I have one year of my contract. The first person who has to talk is the chairman. When we finish the season, we will see and we will talk," he said.

"After we will take the decision. I have one year of my contract, I will not tell you here but I have to talk to my chairman, my players, my staff."

The 55-year-old expressed his contentment despite the disappointing result.

"I'm the happiest man on the planet in this club. It is extraordinary," Guardiola added.

Guardiola took the opportunity to offer his congratulations to the new champions and his former assistant manager Mikel Arteta.

"On behalf of all Man City and my team, congratulations Arsenal, Mikel, his staff, backroom staff, all the players, fans for this Premier League - they deserve it!" he said.

Arsenal's triumph marks their first top-flight title in over two decades, ending a drought stretching back to the 2003/04 Invincibles season.

When asked about what the achievement would mean to Arteta, Guardiola responded: "That's a question for him but I'm pretty sure it will be special. They put a lot of effort and work in."

Reflecting on the match itself, Guardiola pointed to his squad's physical condition as a contributing factor in their failure to secure victory.

"Today the fatigue was there. Bournemouth had 12 days to prepare. The impact from the fresh players was not good enough," he explained.

Despite missing out on the title, the City boss struck a defiant tone when looking ahead to the next campaign.

"We fought a lot and we prepare next season," Guardiola stated.

He delivered a clear message of intent for the coming year: "Next season, we will be back. City will be back. We will be competing to the end in the competitions."
