"I know what world-class standards look like, how to lead with clarity, and how to develop a team with a real identity.

"We will create an environment that brings the best out of people, that people want to be part of, and that drives people to improve every day."

Singh Johal also recently became one of the youngest coaches in the history of English football to complete his UEFA Pro Licence qualification.

He replaces Derek Adams, who was sacked by the club on Monday.

Adams, who managed the Shrimps on three occasions, was a popular figure at the club and led them to League One for the first time in their history.

The club confirmed the appointment on their website, with an official statement saying the club were "delighted" with the appointment.

"He arrives at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium with an excellent reputation as a forward-thinking coach and leader," the statement read. "Bringing with him a wealth of experience in player development, tactical innovation, and building high-performance cultures.

"Ashvir spent 10 years at Leicester City, coaching players in the academy setup from U7s all the way through to U18s, during that time Leicester City went through their most successful period as a football club.

"His first experience at first team coaching came when he joined Wigan Athletic in 2022 as first-team coach in the Championship.

"His appointment marks an exciting new era for the Shrimps as the Club continues its journey under fresh ownership and renewed ambition."

Morecambe were taken over by Panjab Warriors last week after a summer of turmoil and fears they could go bust.

Ropinder Singh, Morecambe's new chief executive and Panjab Warriors mamber said: "We can't thank everybody here enough because it's been a difficult and very long journey.

"The last seven, eight weeks have been horrendous for everybody involved, ourselves included, but it's shown a lot of collectiveness, a lot of true grit."

The club are yet to return to training, after their opening matches in the National League were postponed due to the pending takeover.

The Shrimps are said to have just five players contracted at the moment and are not yet insured on the training pitches, meaning further postponements could be inevitable. They are scheduled to play Altrincham on Saturday.

However, the latest news of the arrival of a young and upcoming manager is another in a series of positive updates for the club, who looks to build itself back up after a tumultuous summer.
