The footballer may return to the Premier League

Jamie Vardy has revealed he is “desperate” to reunite with former manager Brendan Rodgers as he eyes a move to Celtic before the end of the transfer window.

The former Leicester legend revealed earlier this year that he would be leaving the Foxes after 13 years, and sources close to the player have revealed he has his eyes set on a few clubs.

Brendan Rodgers is also keen to get the signature of his former striker, as a reunion looks to be on the cards.

“He’s a model professional and is keeping himself in great condition. He’d love to move to Celtic and really has his heart set on that move.

“He loved playing under Brendan and thinks he could be a massive benefit to the team up there. In fact, ever since it became clear Celtic were up for the deal Jamie’s been desperate to make it happen.

The Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney-owned club has been on a historic run since they took over, fighting for a place in the Premier League this season. The use of a striker with top-flight knowledge could prove invaluable for the Welsh side.

West Ham is also a team eyeing the 38-year-old. After their disappointing opening game against Sunderland, it is obvious the Hammers need some attacking force up front.

Brentford have also gone through a period of change over the summer window, and now appear set to lose Yoane Wissa as well, meaning they are also in the market for a forward.

With Vardy likely to be playing at the top level for at least another season or two, he would be best suited to playing in the English top-flight.

Securing the services of such a quality striker would be a massive boost for the squad, but Vardy and his wife Becky are also interested in becoming part of the high-profile Wrexham project.

Vardy will not have long to decide where his future lies as the transfer window will close in less the two weeks on September 1.
