Michael Carrick has sent his best wishes to Sir Alex Ferguson after the legendary former Manchester United manager was taken to hospital before Sunday's clash with Liverpool.
The interim boss said learning of Sir Alex being taken ill impacted him prior to the 3-2 victory at Old Trafford.
Carrick said: "I did hear about it before the game. All I can say is I was very affected by it, the news.
"And then we just hope he's all right. I just don't know the latest but we hope for him to be in good shape and we wish him all the best and certainly thinking of him."

Ferguson, 84, received medical treatment at the ground before being transported to hospital by ambulance.
Eyewitnesses on the ground reported the former manager appeared to be "okay" despite the alarming incident.
Manchester United have not issued any statement regarding the health scare and declined to comment.
Carrick acknowledged he had received no further information about his former boss's status following the match.
