Marmoush has now found the net seven times in just six appearances against the Magpies, having also netted twice in City's Carabao Cup victory at the Etihad.
Guardiola celebrated the third goal with visible passion on the touchline, his animated reaction reflecting the significance of the performance.
Kieran Trippier offered a candid assessment following the final whistle, telling TNT Sports: "The first 30 minutes I thought we had done well. City are a top side and we have to take it on the chin today."
