The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford

Fans have stuck the knife into Manchester United following their dire 2-1 Premier League defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

The Red Devils had gone into the match confident of taking all three points, having been unbeaten in 2024 so far.

But goals from Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi secured a deserved victory for Marco Silva's side while also denting the Red Devils' hopes of finishing in the top four.

And fans on social media have now condemned United after their dreams of playing in next season's Champions League were left in tatters.

"Finished club. Fulham dominated the game and deserved to win," raged one user.

A second said: "Sell this club and do charity with the funds. The most useless combination of players ever."

A third vented their fury by saying: "There are no words for that performance."

"So many players need to leave the club," a fourth user moaned.

A fifth fumed: "10 PREMIER LEAGUE DEFEATS ALREADY THIS SEASON......FINISHED BOTTOM IN THE UCL GROUP HOW DOES ERIK STILL HAVE HIS JOB !?"

A sixth simply said: "Pathetic performance."

And a seventh user singled out manager Erik ten Hag for criticism by saying: "If you support Ten Hag ur not a United fan."

United won't have too long to dwell on the defeat at Old Trafford with the club set to face Nottingham Forest in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Wednesday.

Forest will go into the match looking to bounce back themselves after a 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa.

And United are due to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium next week - which will only add to their woes.

While it was pain for United, it was a joyous day for Fulham.

The Cottagers were superior in every department and deserved their win, having not beaten the Red Devils away since 2003.

And Iwobi was delighted after propelling Fulham to victory, admitting it was a moment to savour.

"I'm over the moon right now to come back into the team and get the win here - there is no better feeling," he admitted.

"We feel we performed really well and have been performing really well recently, it is just about getting the results."

When asked if Fulham felt the opportunity to beat United had gone after Maguire's equaliser, he added: "Nah, because we always had the ability to create chances, we had so many in the final third, it was just about taking them and luckily I was able to take mine at the end."

The Nigeria international was also full of praise for Adama Traore, who used his pace to set up his team-mate for the decisive goal.

"We all know he can drive us up the pitch and he's a threat," he continued.

"As soon as he has the ball it is head down for me, sprint towards the goal and he was able to find me.

"I took the touch inside I feel the keeper thought I would wrap it far corner, but I gave him the eyes and put it inside near post.
