The Spaniard suffered a fractured collarbone after a horror crash in a cycling incident

Emergency services rushed to treat Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique after the 55-year-old Spaniard sustained a fractured collarbone in a cycling incident on Friday.

The French champions confirmed their head coach would require surgical intervention following the accident.


Medical personnel attended to Enrique at the scene before transferring him to hospital for an operation.

PSG released an official statement on Friday evening confirming the extent of their manager's injuries.

The mishap occurred during the international break, with the reigning Champions League holders not scheduled to play again until they host Lens at the Parc des Princes on 14 September.

"Following a bicycle fall that occurred this Friday, Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique was attended to by emergency services and will undergo surgery for a fractured collarbone," the club announced in their statement.

PSG expressed their backing for the Spanish tactician, adding: "The club expresses its full support and wishes him a swift recovery. Further updates will be shared in due course."

The timing raises questions about Enrique's availability for upcoming fixtures.

After the Lens encounter, PSG are scheduled to begin their Champions League title defence against Atalanta on 17 September.

The club has not indicated how long their manager might be sidelined.

Enrique assumed control at PSG in summer 2023 and has accumulated an impressive trophy haul.

The former Barcelona manager secured consecutive Ligue 1 championships and French Cup victories during his tenure.
