Jurgen Klopp takes charge of his penultimate game in charge for Liverpool this evening against Aston Villa before his final match against Wolves on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp will have to be on his best behaviour on the touchline for Liverpool's game against Aston Villa or risk being suspended for his Anfield farewell on Sunday.

The 56-year-old has been walking a tightrope since picking up his second booking of the season against Burnley in February.

He's managed to avoid receiving a third booking in the previous 12 matches and needs one more clean evening to avoid an unfortunate touchline ban on the final day of the season.

With Liverpool unable to challenge for the title, the day is set to be a celebratory afternoon dedicated to Klopp as he manages the club for one final time at Anfield.

But Klopp must first navigate Liverpool's trip to Villa Park on Monday night and he's fully aware of the need to avoid a row with the officials.

When asked whether he knew about the risk of a ban during last week's press conference, he said: “I know that already for long.

“By the way, we could turn it around as well and say I’ve only got two yellow cards! I think a few of my colleagues got suspended, right?

“Hmm! So I got calmer over the years, obviously.

“I don’t need to [be on the touchline], but it would be cool if I could do that!

“It will not be from my side. I will try absolutely everything to not get involved in any kind of discussions.”

Klopp isn't the only manager at risk of a touchline ban for the final game of the season.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is one booking away from missing the final day with the Gunners going toe-to-toe with Manchester City for the title.

Liverpool dropped out of the title race after losing to Everton and drawing with West Ham while both City and Arsenal extended their winning runs.

Arne Slot is set to be confirmed as Klopp's successor at Liverpool, although there has not been an official announcement yet.

Liverpool have agreed to pay a compensation package worth up to £9.4million to take Slot from Feyenoord.

There have also been questions on whether Slot will come in as a manager or head coach, something the Dutchman doesn't seem too bothered about.

“I'm not interested in what you call me: you can call me Arne, head coach or manager,” he said.

“I don't care as long as I can do what I like and that is being with the players on the pitch, working with them and being at the games as that is the most special.”
