The Reds are now five points clear at the top of the Premier League table

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken out after his side's comfortable 4-1 win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The Reds went ahead through Darwin Nunez in the 35th minute, wiht the Uruguay international scoring via a splendid lob over Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken.

They then turned on the style after the break, with Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah extending their lead.

Ivan Toney sparked hope of a late Brentford comeback when he scored in the 75th minute after the ball was parried into his path by Caoimhin Kelleher.

But Cody Gakpo got on the scoresheet to add gloss to a brilliant performance from Klopp's side and secure all three points.

While Liverpool won convincingly, however, the day wasn't perfect.

The Reds lost Nunez, Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota through injury, with Liverpool now sweating on their availability ahead of their clash with Luton on Wednesday night.

And Klopp has now provided an update on the trio by saying it 'doesn't look great'.

"It is mixed emotions, we lost players which we don't know how serious it is," he said.

"It doesn't look great for either of them.

"But what the boys did after 15 minutes was exceptional against a team set up to annoy you.

"Eighteen times a set piece is flying into your box, you need bodies and luck in a moment and a goalie as well, who played an incredible game.

"We played a good game from a specific moment on. We controlled them as much as you can and we are happy about that."

On whether his side have bad luck with injuries, he added: "Definitely.

"I think there was a knock on Curtis [Jones]. It was a challenge with Diogo [Jota] as well and Darwin [Nunez] we are not sure if he has something or not, he felt something.

"We will see. It was never easy for us, at the moment it is fine.

"We have 57 points and in a few days play again."

Alexis Mac Allister also discussed the result.

And the Argentina international admitted players were delighted - and made it clear how much he's loving life at Anfield following his summer arrival from Brighton.
