Leeds United were pushing Chelsea all the way in their FA Cup fifth-round clash.

A Leeds United fan has left the stadium 'on a stretcher in a neck brace' after falling from the top tier of the away end while celebrating their opening goal against Chelsea.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were looking to bounce back after their disappointing Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

But things went from bad to worse for the Chelsea boss when Mateo Joseph took full advantage of the Blues being lazy with the ball at the back.

It sparked wild celebrations among the travelling Leeds supporters that led to a medical emergency in the crowd.

A fan fell from the top tier of the Shed End and was quickly treated by medics in the stands.

He then left Stamford Bridge on a stretcher in a neck brace, according to the Telegraph.

Joseph scored the game's opening goal after Chelsea tried to play out from the back.

Axel Disasi and Moises Caicedo were at fault before Joseph confidently smashed his effort past Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea were back on track minutes later with Nicolas Jackson equalising for Chelsea with a neat finish of his own.

And Mykhaylo Mudryk, who has played just two league games in 2024 for Chelsea, put the Blues ahead before the break with his fifth goal of the season.

But Chelsea were unable to build on that momentum in the second half with Leeds drawing level on the hour mark.

The cup tie looked set to be heading for extra time with Chelsea struggling to find a way through Leeds' rigid defence.

But Conor Gallagher popped up with a winner in stoppage time to save Pochettino's blushes and send Chelsea into the quarter-final.

The win will come as a huge relief for Pochettino, who issued a rallying cry to his side before kick-off to get them back on track.

He said: "Always the pressure is to win and the pressure is to go through to the competition.

"To arrive to the first final of the season in England, in the UK, I think is a massive achievement but after you arrive, after you don't get the title, it's tough.

"But I think we played very good games to arrive there.

"Now is a game that is going to be tough for all of the circumstances.

"But we need to be strong, with good energy and I told you when we started the press conference, the players want to be involved, want to be there and want to show that we are in the way that is going to be good for the team and good for the club."
