Lamisha Musonda, the former Chelsea youth player, has disclosed in a heartbreaking social media post that he believes he has merely days remaining to live.

The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht in 2012 alongside his siblings Tika and Charly, shared the devastating news without specifying the nature of his illness.

The nine-cap Belgium Under-21 international acknowledged his health has reached a critical state following what he described as two particularly challenging years.

Musonda, who hung up his boots in 2020, confirmed he is now battling for survival as his condition deteriorates.

In his poignant message, written in both English and French, Musonda reflected on those who have supported him throughout his life.

"As I realise I only have a few days left, I also realise I had a lot of people by my side and I'll always cherish the memories," he wrote.

"Life is hard, but the view is great."

The former midfielder expressed profound sadness at potentially being unable to personally thank the many people who have meant so much to him.

"My family and I are fighting, and I won't quit until my last breath," he declared, appealing for prayers and support during this difficult period.

Musonda's professional journey began when he departed Anderlecht for Chelsea's academy as part of a family move that brought all three brothers to west London.

He spent two seasons developing within the Blues' youth setup before departing for Belgian outfit Mechelen.

His career subsequently took him across Europe, with stints at Spanish lower-tier clubs Llagostera and Palamos providing further experience.

The midfielder also ventured to Africa, representing Congolese powerhouse Mazembe before calling time on his playing days in 2020.

His absence from social media in recent times, he explained, was directly connected to his deteriorating health situation.

The Musonda family boasts a rich footballing heritage spanning generations.

Youngest brother Charly, now 29, enjoyed a decade on Chelsea's books, accumulating seven first-team appearances whilst also featuring eight times during a loan spell at Celtic.

He has since represented Real Betis, Vitesse Arnhem, Levante and Cypriot side Anorthosis.

Middle sibling Tika, aged 31, has transitioned into the scouting world and currently serves Liverpool as a global talent scout.

Their father, Charly Sr, carved out his own distinguished career as a midfielder for Anderlecht and earned 48 international caps representing Zambia during his playing days.
